![]() When we moved our shop to a new location (in the middle of a pandemic!!!) we found ourselves faced with dozens of decisions. One seemingly minor (but also major) decision was how to decorate the three entrances across the front of our building. Those entrances offer passersby a glimpse into our interior space, so we wanted to make sure they are always attractive and special, and they give you a hint as to what fun finds are within our doors. With a plethora of faux flowers and foliage to choose from, somehow the olive leaves and branches felt "right." ![]() Most people think of the olive branch as a symbol of peace...and it is. But it has other historical meanings as well, especially for Christians. The story of a dove bringing back an olive branch to the ark is an enduring symbol of hope. The storm was over, the flood waters were slowly receding, and the world would begin to heal and allow life to resume again. We've all faced (and continue to face) so many uncertainties with this pandemic and the strife and struggles going on in our nation. We have many shoppers who stop in frequently for inspiration and a respite from the storms of life raging all around us. A symbol of hope for a peaceful future just seems fitting. So when you visit us in our new location, you'll see an ever-changing array of beautiful, unique and interesting furniture, home decor and gifts. But the one constant are the baskets of olive branches and olive wreaths on our doors. And if you request to have your purchase gift-bagged, you may get a sprig of olive leaves and berries tucked in with the perky ribbon on the handle. We hope these small symbols will give you a bit of optimism and some peace of mind. Sending good thoughts and prayers for peace that passes understanding.
